P.S. I Love You

So I finally went and seen P.S. I Love You yesterday and was hoping I would love it. I liked it but didn't love it. I never listen to critics because there have been too many times I have gone to a movie that they have raved about and thought it was junk and most of the critics didn't like this movie. Probably because it was a very emotional movie but it did have moments of comedy. If you don't know the story it's about a grieving widow(Hilary Swank) who discovers her husband has left her a list of tasks revealed in ten messages, delivered anonymously, and intended to ease her into life without him and yes I just copied that off of the internet. LOL First of all Hilary Swank is a good actress and I also liked the actor who played her hubby. All I can say was there were parts of the movie that worked and other parts that were not as good. I loved the parts when she felt her husband was still with her and she would talk to him and I liked the parts when she went to Ireland. So it was a good movie just not a great movie in my opinion. I went to this movie by myself and I do that alot when I want to see something that I think my sweetie would not be interested in and he definitely would not have been into this movie. But anyway like I was saying I went by myself and a group of young teenagers sat about four seats from me and texted the whole time, when they weren't crying at the really sad parts. I mean why do you have to text at movies or other public functions? It didn't really bug me to death but I thought can't you just enjoy some quiet time and just watch? Is watching or reading or doing anything that doesn't involved a phone a dying art? Just made me think.......... Also right before the movie started a guy came in by himself also and sat down right behind me and cried through the whole movie. At first I thought about asking him if he was okay but then I thought what if something tragic like what was happening in the movie was happening to him. But he really did cry alot during the whole thing. I also seen the previews for The Bucket List which should be out soon and I want to see it. P.S I hope I love it. :-)

That is so sad that the man behind you was crying through the whole movie - very sad. I am not a fan of Hillary Swank - she's a good actress, but I'm just not that crazy about her - I'll probably wait for this one to come out on DVD. Thanks for the review. Hope you have a good day. Kellan

Thanks for your opinion of the movie. I trust another woman's opinion over the reviews! We rarely go out to movies.... either rent the DVD or watch it on "Demand" from our cable company.

I've gone to movies by myself before, if I really wanted to see it & h wouldn't come along. Friends & I want to see Mad Money with Diane Keyton & Katie Holmes....I think it's coming out soon.
Poor guy behind you....maybe he experienced a similar situation.

Happy New Year, DebraK

Hi Joan, thanks for stopping by our Blog! We have not seen this movie yet but the texting and use of mobile phones in a movie theatre, well this is of major annnoyance to hubby! He thinks it is very rude and I find it very annoying!! We pay no attention whatsoever to critics either! And love your star cursor, so cute! Happy New Year Joan! Jenn and Jacqui

Thanks for the review. I'm glad to know, and will probably wait to rent it. Like you, I rarely go by what the critics are saying - some of my favorite movies received poor reviews. But - I will certainly take into consideration what you have to say! Actually, it sounds like your judgement on this one is about what the critics are saying ... I do like Hillary Swank, hate to hear the not so good reviews.

I sure hope the man sitting behind you is okay...

I am so into that review...it would help if I actually liked Hilary Swank, which I guess I know now, I don't. I hate going to the theater because when I need a coke the jerks won't use the pause button...and so God created DVD's...actually I can't see any man working quite so hard to get his wife...what is the polite term for laid? a boyfriend when he knows he's about to kick the bucket...speaking buckets...now the Bucket List is going to be a definite GET THEE TO THE MOVIE PALACE one for me...because I love Jack Nicholson and Morgan Freeman...k, gonna shut up now...
hugs

Thank you for your greeting in my blog.
I also look forward to meet you in the blogworld in the next year.
Today I shall visit my old mother, and tonight we shall go to my brother, who lives in her neighbourhood.

I wish you a happy and blessed new year. "Godt nytt år" we say in Norway.

I'm seeing this movie on Weds. with two girlfriends. I read the book and it was very moving. Curious to see how it plays on the screen. How frustrating about the texting teens! UGH! Sometimes I wish cell phones had never been invented.

Thanks for the review. I read about it and the critics weren't nice at all, but I never listen to them. I sometimes go to the movies during the afternoon by myself too. Sad about the guy. Bless his heart. I want to see The Bucket List too. That one should be good. Hope so.

Hugs!
Kat

I just saw this movie tonight, and I really liked it. We should start going to movies together like we used to. I was just telling Sami tonight about how much fun I had when we'd go to the movies just the two of us and spend the day together...

Sometimes movies are worse in the theaters because of all the distractions. You should rent it later and see if you like it better at home.
