My Mini Me And Ikea

Look, the gals at Design Her Gals made a virtual version of me doing two of my favorite things. Traveling and blogging! Hey, if I had another hand I would be holding a coffee cup also. LOL Anyway, check out their site, it is so much fun, especially for a girly girl like me. It's like playing virtual paper dolls. The funny thing is she really does look like me, okay so her waist is a little smaller and she has no wrinkles on her face, little details..... But she is wearing pink and she loves to travel and blog. Anyway go check out Design Her Gals and have some fun. I have the print at home package and have made cute little business cards and matching stationary.
In other news an Ikea store opened here in Cincy today. People set up tents and camped out for days to be the first in the store. I know the first few hundred people in the door got something free but I still don't get it. I can't imagine wanting anything so bad that I would camp out in the cold for days. I've never been to an Ikea store and I've never been on their website so I have no idea what the big deal is. So if anyone has a clue, let me know. LOL I'm sure I'll check it out sometime but it won't be until the hype dies down. Have a great Wednesday!

I never did get the camping out to shop thing. I really like Ikea, but not THAT much.

Call me crazy...but I've never understood the attraction to camping out in a parking lot...with folks I don't know (which could be FUN or could be SCARY)....freezing my bum off in the snow or burning up in the heat...there is nothing that they could give me that would cause me to wait for days...with no public restrooms, no heaters or air conditoners, food, shelter, lipstick, comfy house clothes...or any of the luxuries of home. Now if it were a tent set up in the great outdoors somewhere near a babbling brook, with a fire pit, public facilities, hot dogs, cots and my family...maybe...but seriously...in a parking lot...to win something...well, I don't think so! But...hey...some people love it...and more power to them...I'm sure its about the adventure not the freebie...I guess I'm just not that adventurous!

I've never been to an Ikea store...but have shopped a little on line with them...but all in all...I'm not really too familar with them...other than I hear they have some really inexpensive items!

Blessings...
Teresa

BTW...if you had another arm on your virtual gal...I think you would be holding your sweet little grand-daughter!!

Amen to Living The Life. That is ridiculous. I have been to IKEA, it's okay but certainly not worth camping out for. My idea of camping is a bad Holiday Inn.

I used to yearn for an IKEA store to be near me. But that was back in my Vern of Trading Spaces days. Now I really couldn't care less. We had a Belk store open in our town...the Grand Opening was today, as a matter of fact. I thought I'd drop by there on the way to my hair appointment. The HERD OF PEOPLE gathered around the front entrance waiting for it to open was RIDICULOUS! I guess the first 200 people in line got a gift card (worth anywhere from $5 to $50). I decided that fighting thru that mess wasn't worth $500, much less the $5 or $50. I went to Cracker Barrel instead and AFTER my hair appointment, I went back to Belk. It was still pretty crowded and they must have had 40 employees for every customer because I was constantly bombarded by salespeople trying to get me to sign up for this giveaway or that giveaway. It was NOT a fun visit. Think I'll wait for them to settle in a bit before I go back.
Love your new "portrait", by the way!!

Ikea is a fun place to shop and get some inexpensive do-dads. The Scandinavian, contemporary minimalistic furniture isn't my style but I still go there once in a while. Stand in line, camp outdoors for a gift card...I don't think so. my time is too precious.
