Friday Fun!

Happy Friday!! I don't have much to say but I hope everyone has a great weekend! I am off to our regular Friday lunch with my Dad and then to get some party supplies for our grandson Cameron's 1st birthday party at our house tomorrow! You know I'll take lots of photos so be prepared for grand baby photo overload next week. LOL I thought these were funny especially the first one since Gone With The Wind is one of my all time favorite movies! Have a wonderful weekend!

Happy Friday!

I've been a busy little bee. Meet my new friends, Isabella, Lila and Olivia. Yea, I named my jewelry holders, yea I probably am a complete nerd. LOL But I've been busy working on my wire wrapping, which is the technique used to make earrings. I finally figured out after about an hour that the cheap headpins(the stick pin thingys that the beads go on) that I bought at Hobby Lobby were not very flexible to do the wrapping with and when I used the better headpins that I got from Fire Mountain Gems it worked so much better and my hands felt alot better too. One little tip, don't try to take photos of jewelry after drinking two cups of coffee. I couldn't figure out why they were all so blurry(caffeine overload), so I got my tri pod out and took a few and they were much better. LOL

I think I am a perfectionist because if it doesn't look good, I'll take it apart and start all over until I am happy with the end product. I am not happy with the sparkle snowmen yet but I do not have good silver headpins yet, so they'll have to wait and then I'll redo them. So these are what I am giving out for Christmas presents this year.

Thank you girls, you did a fine job of showing off my treasures.

I love, love this bracelet I made. These are not the colors I usually go for. I'm a pink and red and silver girl but there was something about these colors that I loved. I am having so much fun with this hobby but I think I have a problem. LOL Because the other day I was looking at Swarovski Christmas ornaments and the only thing I could think of was how pretty a couple of them would look on a black velvet cord with a black turtleneck. Not on a Christmas tree but as a piece of jewelry. I'm hopeless I know. :-)

Anyway, I am spending the day with one of my favorite little girls. My daughter Melissa is sick so I picked up Maddie and she is spending the night with Grams and Papa. Woohoo, I think we might take her downtown and see if they have any pretty Christmas lights up yet because ya'll know Maddie just loves Christmas. And then dinner at her favorite place, Subway.
And don't forget Brenda's Photo Challenge tomorrow. The theme is "water" and I think I forgot to sign up again. Hey, you gals know I always play. LOL I know which photos I want to use, it's just finding them in the thousands(yea I said thousands) of photos that I have in my files. Have a great weekend, I'm off to find those photos before Maddie wakes up from her nap!

Does Your Mascara Oscillate?

Has anyone seen the new mascaras on the market yet? Lancome has a new vibrating mascara that has 700 oscillations per minute. Here's what they say about it, you will instantly see a fascinating glaze(what??); lashes appear ultimately extended, remarkably separated and virtually multiplied in number. This thing actually vibrates as you put on the mascara. So what do you think of this? For $34.00 a pop, this better work. Lancome does have some really great mascara but I'm not sure about something vibrating around my eye!! LOL Our youngest daughter Christina turns 27 on Sunday so I think everyone is coming over for pizza. I'll post some embarrassing kid photos of her then. LOL Have a good one!

It's Friday!!

I can't believe it's August 1st. The weeks seem to fly by anymore. One day it's Monday and then I blink and it's Friday. I thought these photos of Maddie were cute, she get's really excited when she sees herself in the mirror. She'll talk to the toddler in the mirror and smile and laugh at her. I'm not sure what she's thinking but it sure is funny to watch. This was at a Macy's store yesterday. Mommy and Sydney were looking for a dress to wear to a wedding and Maddie and Grandma(me) made a pitstop. The big mirror in their restrooms kept her entertained for awhile. LOL

I also wanted to show you a few photos I took last weekend when I was at the Reds ballgame. Our Great American Ballpark sits on the Ohio River and these photos are from the Ohio side looking over at Kentucky. I grew up on this river, fishing and boating etc..., so the River holds a special place for me. That funny shaped building(the blue one) is the Ascent. It's a new set of Condo's that look over the River and the Cincinnati skyline. The are very expensive but they have great views! The bridge is called the Roebling Bridge but we Cincinnatians call it the Suspension bridge. Today's my Mother-in Law's birthday! Happy Birthday Lynn! We are going out to eat to celebrate with her tonight. It's a big one for her but not sure if she wants me to share the number. LOL Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

TGIF!!!

I had a fun day shopping with my friend Vickie yesterday. We hit the Mall, had lunch, went to the bead store and then went home to rest. LOL I didn't do too much damage, just got a few things, some new beads and fingernail polish. It's so much fun to have girlfriends and just shop and talk. Mostly we just had fun shopping. Did you know Victoria's Secret has a perfume that when you pick it up, it purrs, no really the bottle purrs. I didn't get any though because I was busy looking at all of their PINK line. No big surprise there. LOL Vickie took me to a store which sells clothes she uses for her belly dancing classes. Yea, she's a hoot, she loves to take belly dancing classes and I would try it with her if I wasn't afraid of hurting my back. But I actually liked the clothes there, well some of them. LOL Now I have to try to remember how to make some jewelry again, it's been awhile. Here's a few of my goodies..........

I bought this pretty white blouse and tee at Ann Taylor Loft. You can't really see the detail in the tee but it has white beading around the neck and I love the color and it was all on sale--yea!!
This was my deal of the day. This is a Ralph Lauren jacket, in a mint green color. This was selling for $99.00 this Spring but I found this last one on the clearance rack for $22.00. Woohoo ,that's a good deal, I thought it was a mistake because the other jackets were $59.00 on clearance but the gal told me if it said that price it was mine. I was a little worried because I would normally take a medium in a jacket and this was a small but it fit fine. I took it as a sign it was meant to be. LOL

And has anyone tried these candles yet? Oh my goodness, these things are wonderful. I had to drag Vickie in the Hallmark store because they sell these candles next to the Yankee ones. They have a wood wick which when you burn the candle it crackles like a fire in the fireplace and I love the different ones they have, I've been looking for the Sunset beach one, which smells like coconut and pineapple. The only thing is they are a little pricey but I like the look of them and the smell and the crackle sound. I've seen them at Hallmark and Dillard's. That's about it for me this Friday, but before I sign off I need to ask, what do you think are the odds? We are taking all three grandbabies to get their photo taken today. So I'm asking what are the odds of getting a good photo of an almost 2 year old, a three month old and a one month old at the same time??? Is this mission impossible?? LOL Cameron is at such a good age, he smiles at anyone who smiles at him. Sydney just started to smile this week so I'm just hoping for eyes open. And Maddie is the wildcard because she could go either way. Call us crazy but we are going to try. I'll let you know if we survive. LOL Have a good weekend and stay cool in this heat!!

Hodge Podge of Friday Stuff

We have a name for the mystery fruit! Hilary from The Smitten Image found it for us. It's called Dragon Fruit and you can go here to learn all about it. It looks like it comes from a form of cactus. It's really interesting and it was fun reading what everyone thought it might be! Thanks Hilary!
This is what I worked on yesterday. This quote is upstairs in our hallway. I haven't quite finished it all yet. I have photos all around this of our family and I need to add our grandbabies to the mix and then I'll try to get a decent photo to show you the finish project. It's kind of hard to get a good photo because it's such a narrow hallway. But isn't it so cool?!! I love the idea of it, photos of the whole family and it's all because two people fell in love....... I showed my sweetie when he came home last night and he says to me "you have good handwriting". LOL It's a kit and Hobby Lobby has them on sale this week for half off! My handwriting stinks and it has gotten worse as I have gotten older. They have lots of different quotes to choose from.
Here are the little baskets I made for Melissa and Allison(moms of my grandbabies) for Mother's Day. I got the baskets at Hobby Lobby. Yea, I love that store. LOL And then I put in a couple of items from Bath & Body's fresh & clean collection. Which by the way smells wonderful, my fave two are Sea Island Cotton and Dancing Waters. And I also added the exfoliating body wash from Softsoap, which also is great and a candle that is suppose to smell like the ocean air. Just a little something because they are such great Moms to my grandbabies!
Isn't this so typical of Moms? Doing a million things at one time and someone yelling Mom, Mom, Mom......LOL Hope all of you Moms out there have a wonderful Mother's Day. We are going to have the kids over and grill out on Sunday. I am going to the Fresh Market and get their yummy portable mushroom, gouda burgers and make my strawberry trifle for dessert. Have a great one!!

The Princess Grandma and the Young Whippersnapper

Once upon a time in the fair land of flying pigs and German sausage lived a beautiful grandma princess. One day the grandma princess decided to decorate her castle so she went in her black carriage to the castle depot in search of the perfect item. She searched and searched and finally found the item she wanted to feather her little castle. She took it up to the young whippersnapper to pay for it and she was very excited because the item she wanted was 50% off. As she was paying for it the young whippersnapper declares "we never sell any of these, no one buys these things" and then he waits for a few seconds and looks at the grandma princess and then says with emphasis "no one, not ever." Well, the grandma princess thought for a moment and she even thought about buying all that they had left just to show the young whippersnapper a thing or two, but then she thought that the grandpa prince might not be too happy if she did that. So she took her goods that "no one buys, not ever" and went to her black carriage and laughed and promptly turned the young whippersnapper into a toad.

Okay, so maybe the beautiful grandma princess is a slight exaggeration and in the coming weeks I'll explain the flying pig reference to everyone not familiar with Cincinnati, but that kid really did say that to me. I was buying the stencils pictured below. You can go to here to see the items I am talking about and how to do them.

Here's the stencil I bought with the purple flowers. I planned on framing a doorway with it. Now if I had some artistic talent and could draw, I would do it myself but since I was not given that talent this will have to do.
And wouldn't this look so cute in a laundry room with the clothes on the clothesline?
Here's one of the stencils I did a few years ago for our powder room. It's a grapevine framing the doorway. It's a few years old but I still like it. If you look inside you can see the other stencils I put in the room and below is also a stencil from the powder room. So I'm asking you, does this look tacky or something?
Actually, I don't think the kid was being deliberately rude or I would have really turned him into a toad. LOL Anyway, I thought it was funny in the end. I once read on Kari and Kijsa's blog to decorate your home with the things you love. I thought that was some of the best advice on decorating. I love their blog. So I am going to frame that doorway with the thing that "no one not ever" buys because I like it! Have a great weekend!

Friday Fun!

Everyone who knows me, knows I like to shop. I don't have to buy, I love to window shop also. So when I find something I think is just so unique and beautiful, I have to share it. Here is my new favorite that my friend Sherra has turned me on too. This beautiful necklace is by Make a Difference Starfish and made by Terri. I am telling you the photos do not show the depth and beauty of the pieces. The one I bought myself is the Aurora piece and when the sun hits it, it looks like little diamonds floating all over the place. I can't begin to tell you how many compliments I have had on this one piece of jewelry. Now my Aurora piece is very reflective and it is also the big one, the starfish come in different sizes. This top photo and the one below this are the same starfish only on different necklaces. The black cord with this piece on a black turtleneck is stunning.
And then I went out to the mailbox the other day and look what was in there. An early birthday present from Sherra for me. You guys know I am crazy for pink so I was so very excited to get this piece. This pink and purple piece is not made any more and again you can't see the detail and the facets that are in the pieces in the photos. Terri does this out of her home in Hilton Head and it just reminds me of the beach I love so much there. And she also donates a portion to the charity of your choice. I chose heart disease because my mom, brother and father in law all died from the disease. Anyway, thanks so much Sherra, you know I love it and check out Terri's site if you are looking for a unique and different gifts. My girls are already showing me the ones they want for next Christmas. They like the smaller starfish on the cords. Click on starfish when you go to her homepage to see all the different ones.

I also decided to decorate this year for Easter. I really never had much in the way of Easter decorations so I went to TJ Maxx and Hobby Lobby and got a few things. I made this little table in my living room my official Easter decorating table. LOL Those are not real chocolate Easter bunnies. The one in the basket I got from TJ Maxx and it really does look like you can eat it but it is fake(non fattening). And I don't know if you can see it but in the basket are a bunch of sparkle eggs that I got from Hobby Lobby (love that store). Anyway, I think my little Easter table turned out very cute. And last but not least my good blogging buddy Kat from Just a beach Kat gave this award to everyone who reads her blog. And I am going to do the same thing because I just can't pick a few people. Thanks Kat. Have a great weekend and just think tomorrow is March. Spring is coming in a few weeks. Yes it is, it's coming.....................
