TRAVEL TUESDAY ~ CHARMING INNS

I have been sadly lacking with my Travel Tuesday posts. All I can say is that I have been lazy. Putting together a travel post takes some time because I always want to make sure I double check my facts etc... Sometimes when you travel things get a bit fuzzy after awhile and you need to check out details. So anyway after reading my good buddy Donna from Cottage Days and Journeys post about her wonderful stay at the Inn at Evins Mill, I just knew I had to post a Travel Tuesday about one of my favorite ways to travel, staying at charming inns or bed and breakfasts. I usually go to two references when I am planning a trip to a B & B. The first is Select Registry, which is a list of distinguished inns of North America or one of Karen Browns guides. Both are good references when you are looking for a charming inn. A word to the wise though, some inns have shared baths so make sure you ask or read that you have a private bath. But other then that, staying at a small inn is a wonderful experience. Breakfast is usually included and so are some light snacks in the late afternoon.
So on to the first inn, the White Lace Inn. This inn is located in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin which is also in the area called Door County. This inn is located in town but alot of the inns that are located in Door County are close to the lake. My sweetie and I stayed here and really enjoyed it, the second photo is the room where we stayed. There is much to do in Door County and I have heard it compared to Cape Cod. Just follow my links to either Door County or White Lace to learn more and also check out Select Registry and Karen Brown. I am going to try and be less lazy about Travel Tuesday and contiue to highlight some charming inns, it won't be every week like I used to do but it'll be at least once a month.

Look at how pretty this is in the snow. I'm not a snow person but this looks like a picture postcard. They must get alot of snow because I do remember that their fire plugs were really tall so the fireman could find them.

Here's a photo of the White Lace in autumn. Don't be afraid to try a charming inn or bed and breakfast. Most offer much more in charm and good food than the average hotel.

Totally charming! I just love the history in some of the old Inns, and the atmosphere.

An old work friend owns The Edwardian Inn in nearby Helena and it's such a lovely old place too.

Oh that picture of the B&B in the snow made me gasp. How pretty is that????

Loved your advice on this one. I think Randey and I need to plan a little weekend getaway at a B&B. It sounds like heaven.

I've been terribly lax with my Weight Loss Wednesday posts, too. It's this election. I'm so focused on it and researching things that I can't even think about weightloss and such. I mean, I'm thinking about weight loss, I'm just not posting about it because I'm obsessed with election stuff instead. Did that make sense? lol

Oh I LOVE b&b's! We have stayed in some nice and some not-so-nice ones. But the nice ones were amazing. One in particular stands out for me as it was during the peak of fall. It was in the middle of nowhere, the grounds were amazing, the rooms were so comfortable, and the breakfast was incredible. Now you have me thinking it would be a great little getaway for next year when my hubby and I celebrate our 10th anniversary! Thanks for the idea!

Wonderful post! I was surprised by your plug for my blog, LOL. Glad to inspire you to share some of your experiences! That B&B looks positively scrumptious. We've never made it up to Door County, but hope to someday!

Thanks for this charming tour and all the great links! I have never stayed in a B&B - can you believe that? It's something I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to do and I don't know why we never have.

Have a good afternoon - Kellan

Thank you for this post. I am not a snow person either, I don't like it at all.But Norway is a snow-land, so we have to accept it.
Tonight it will be cold, but we haven't got snow yet.
Beautiful photos you show us here!
Have a nice week!

I have never stayed at at B & B before. There is a really nice one in Mackinaw City that I would love to stay at but my husband does not like the thought of staying in someone's "house" Whatever! That snow picture is stunning, really.

Hi Joan,
Those are absolutely gorgeous. I always thought I wanted to open a B&B until I saw the amount of 24/7 work that goes into it.
Hope you are having a great week.

Hi Joan

Thanks for checking on me. I haven't been by in awhile. Between our trips, my getting the flu and all my company for the breast cancer walk, my life has been c-r-a-z-y!!! Everyone has gone now and my house is quiet. BUT...I'm desperatly trying to get caught up and it's been fun seeing what you've been doing.

Hugs!
Kat
