My sweetie and I are temporarily sharing an office and to make room, I had to box up some of my favorite old friends. You should have seen me, taking some down off the bookshelf that we are getting rid of. I would put some in the box and then take a couple back out because I just can't part with them yet. Books have been my friends ever since I learned to read. They have taken me on adventures, entertained me, kept my mind off of problems. When I was growing up we lived right by a library and I would be there every week. There were no computers to entertain me, no game boys or video games and only three channels on the TV for a long time so books became my main source of entertainment. So some of my old favorites are going into storage for now but I did manage to keep a few that I read over an over again out. Does anyone else like to read certain books over and over? And what are your favorite books?
I also had to box up my collection of my old Nancy Drew books that I had when I was a young girl. I have my name in all of these books and on the inside cover where it lists all of the Nancy Drew books, I had marked off each one I would read or collect. I loved Nancy Drew.
Now my sweetie wanted me to box up my little bunny that sat on the bookshelf also but I put my foot down on that one. This little guy has been my buddy since I was an infant. He has no "fur" left on him and has been sewn in many places. He will be sitting on the new table we are putting in the office. There are some things you don't put in a box and in storage. I can see that my sweetie and I might butt heads while sharing an office for awhile, let's hope it's a short temporary situation. LOL Have a great Thursday!
Would you box up this little guy???

Oh My Word!! LOL No Way would I pack away that sweet little bunny!! Some men just don't "get" it!!lolol
My favorite author is Anne Perry. I started reading her years ago, and have every book she ever wrote. She also wrote several sci-fi's...They were good as well! Have a wonderfully warn and loving day sweetie!
NEVER!!!!! The bunny would be the focus of the room! I love bunnies anyway, so I think he should stay out and very visible to all.
I noticed your copy of Dorothea Benton Franks Pawleys Island. I am from that area and vacation there every year. While I didn't think this was her best work, I did enjoy it. She referenced many real places and used local names in the book which was fun for me to read.

No a thousand times no! DO NOT BOX UP BUNNY! I'd love to get my hands on some of those books in that box, specially Karen K. I too have been an avid reader since I could first hold a book in my hands and learned that A is for Apple...luckily, my boys are both readers, too!!! I gave my Nancy Drew collection to my granddaughter...she's a fan, lol!
hugs

I re-read books all the time. I've read Jane Austin several times, War and Peace twice, and several others more than once.
I'm afraid I don't hang on to sentimental things. I would have tossed out the bunny a long time ago - but you.... keep it in your office!
First off, keep the bunny right where he is :-) I have weeded out my books twice in just a few months, and it is a hard thing to do! There was just too many, and not enough room. I donated them all, so hopefully they found a new home.
I was handed down a collection of Nancy Drew books as a child, and read these (as well as whatever I could get my hands on!) These were the books with the blue/gray covers. When my folks moved down the shore a few years ago these either got misplaced, or are still packed in boxes somewhere in their storage room! Dad hasn't found them as yet, but I haven't given up hope :-)
I have a kitty a lot like your bunny! Hairless, been with me since I was about 2, bald....but I can't box it away!
I love to read and have since I learned how. I love the library and as a child called it the "li-berry"...LOL...I loved comic's and books of all sorts...
My favorites now that I've read over and over is Christy by Catherine Marshal, The Outlander series by Diana Gabaldon and a new set to me,the Quilt series by Jennifer Chiaverini...all great reads!
I went to look at my bookshelf just now and pulled one book out and caused an avalanch...whoopsie! I think I need to clean that shelf out.....
I recognize that little bunny! Surprised he is still around - that is so cool! No way, he needs to be out.

That is so sweet that you kept that bunny! I wish I would have kept a lot of my stuff.
I used to LOVE Nancy Drew! I didn't have all her books, but quite a few! I can't wait until my girls are old enough to read them.
Joan,
There is NO way I would box up that little bunny! He is just too special!
Yep, I love my books...I could not part with them, but I fear there will be a day when dh says to STOP buying them!!! ACK! (Shock and Horror)

No - don't box up the little bunny!!! I can't believe it was from you were an infant and is in such good shape - so cute. I have a bunny too from when I was little - but it is all torn and dirty looking. You must have had a better mom than I did (tee hee)! Take care and I'll see you later. Kellan
Greetings from the Last Frontier of Alaska ~ and NO... box for the bunny!
JOAN - my favorite tour guide and friend,
NEVER EVER let him box that sweet little guy up. What do men know? I could read LaVyrle Spencer's "The Gamble" over and over and over. All of her works are fabulous and then she up and retired on me. The Nerve!
Love,
Julie
I couldn't box up that bunny either...
My favorite stop is a used book store- I can swap books and always have something new to read.
Hi Miss Joan. We have a lot in common! I have my Nancy Drew books on a shelf in the bathroom (the last bit of shelf space I could come up with). I hate letting go of books that I think that I might want to re-read. I have often bought copies again after I let them go.
Your bunny was sweet. I had a 'teddy'. What I did, years ago when hubby and I were dating, was to give teddy to him. He thought is was sweet and now HE can't part with teddy. What about wrapping bunny up for Valentine's Day, giving it to your sweetie, and include a note that says you trust him with your heart? I bet bunny would get a place of honor in your home after that! Enjoyed my visit with you - Jennifer
Hiya Joan
I had to box up some books last week as well and while i was 'sorting' through them i found all my old 'Sweet Valley High' books ! LOL i used to love them. Hmmm maybe i might read one for old times sake hey.....
Oh and nooo way would i box up that bunny. No fur and he's still sweet as pie :)

It's hard for me to part with books too. I try to use the library more often now just because it's hard to find room for all the books. I try to pass them on to friends who I think will love them as well.
I had all the Nancy Drew books at one time too when I was a young girl. That was a long time ago. When I finished reading those, I moved on to Agatha Christie's books. That was back in junior high.
Did you know Barbara Delinsky has a new book coming out next month? I've got a hold on it at the library. I noticed you had some of her titles in your box.
The bunny is too cute! Keep it out.
I loved Nancy Drew, too. She and the Hardy Boys kept me busy, busy, busy. Great books.
Greetings from a little north of you - Hamilton.
I have been reading since a teenager also and re-read books quite a bit, especially if I think they are really good books. I have many favorite authors Karen Kingsbury - Nicholas Sparks and especially emjoy reading biographies. Good luck with your packing.
