Happy Mother's Day!

A baby asked God, 'They tell me you are sending me to earth tomorrow, but how am I going to live there being so small and helpless?' God said, 'Your angel will be waiting for you and will take care of you.' The child further inquired, 'But tell me, here in heaven I don't have to do anything but sing and smile to be happy.' God said, 'Your angel will sing for you and will also smile for you. And you will feel your angel's love and be very happy.' Again the child asked, 'And how am I going to be able to understand when people talk to me if I don't know the language?' God said, 'Your angel will tell you the most beautiful and sweet words you will ever hear, and with much patience and care, your angel will teach you how to speak.' 'And what am I going to do when I want to talk to you?' God said, 'Your angel will place your hands together and will teach you how to pray.' 'Who will protect me?' God said, 'Your angel will defend you even if it means risking its life.' 'But I will always be sad because I will not see you anymore.' God said, 'Your angel will always talk to you about Me and will teach you the way to come back to Me, even though I will always be next to you.' At that moment there was much peace in Heaven, but voices from Earth could be heard and the child hurriedly asked, 'God, if I am to leave now, please tell me my angel's name.' God said, 'You will simply call her, 'Mom.'

What Makes being a Mom so worth it

GRANDBABIES!!!

Maddie, the ring leader of the group!!
Cameron, second in command!!
And Maddie's baby Sis, who will make her entrance on May 20th!! I think they have a name all picked out for her but I am not sure they want me to say just yet. But her middle name will be Ann after my Mom. Hey, if I had known grand babies were so much fun I would have done it first. LOL Love these three little guys............

Here's a couple of quotes about Moms that I liked:

"All that I am or ever hope to be, I owe to my angel mother" Abraham Lincoln

"My mother was the most beautiful women I ever saw. All I am I owe to my mother. I attribute all my success in life to the moral, intellectual and physical education I received from her" George Washington

"The mother's heart is a child's schoolroom" Henry Ward Beecher

"When you're a mother , you are never really alone in your thoughts. A mother has to think twice, once for herself and once for her child" Sophia Loren

Hodge Podge of Friday Stuff

We have a name for the mystery fruit! Hilary from The Smitten Image found it for us. It's called Dragon Fruit and you can go here to learn all about it. It looks like it comes from a form of cactus. It's really interesting and it was fun reading what everyone thought it might be! Thanks Hilary!
This is what I worked on yesterday. This quote is upstairs in our hallway. I haven't quite finished it all yet. I have photos all around this of our family and I need to add our grandbabies to the mix and then I'll try to get a decent photo to show you the finish project. It's kind of hard to get a good photo because it's such a narrow hallway. But isn't it so cool?!! I love the idea of it, photos of the whole family and it's all because two people fell in love....... I showed my sweetie when he came home last night and he says to me "you have good handwriting". LOL It's a kit and Hobby Lobby has them on sale this week for half off! My handwriting stinks and it has gotten worse as I have gotten older. They have lots of different quotes to choose from.
Here are the little baskets I made for Melissa and Allison(moms of my grandbabies) for Mother's Day. I got the baskets at Hobby Lobby. Yea, I love that store. LOL And then I put in a couple of items from Bath & Body's fresh & clean collection. Which by the way smells wonderful, my fave two are Sea Island Cotton and Dancing Waters. And I also added the exfoliating body wash from Softsoap, which also is great and a candle that is suppose to smell like the ocean air. Just a little something because they are such great Moms to my grandbabies!
Isn't this so typical of Moms? Doing a million things at one time and someone yelling Mom, Mom, Mom......LOL Hope all of you Moms out there have a wonderful Mother's Day. We are going to have the kids over and grill out on Sunday. I am going to the Fresh Market and get their yummy portable mushroom, gouda burgers and make my strawberry trifle for dessert. Have a great one!!

Wordless Wednesday or also Known as Name that Fruit

I took this photo a couple of years ago at a market in Barcelona, Spain. Just thought it was interesting. The market was fascinating and we spent at least a couple of hours in it. This fruit was on display there or at least I am guessing that it's a fruit. I tried to look this up on the internet but couldn't find anything on it. Has anyone seen or tried this fruit before? You guys know I'm bad at the wordless part of Wordless Wednesday. LOL

Tales (Tails) From The Pig

Here are the winners of the Flying Pig Marathon in Cincinnati on Sunday. Since we didn't make it to the race this year, which is the first time in years, I thought I'd share a couple of stories with you. One is from last year and the other happened on Sunday during the race. I don't know how many of you have ever been involved in a marathon or race, but there is alot of energy and excitement all along the course and especially at the finish line. It is a huge accomplishment for anyone to do this, whether you are running, walking or are in a wheel chair. Last year both my sweetie and I were working the finish line when one of the runners doing the half marathon came across the finish line and collapsed. Alot of runners come across and just are physically spent but this was different. This man died. One of our good friends is the executive director of the marathon and her husband decided to help the widow by trying to locate her husband's car which he had driven to downtown Cincinnati by himself to the race and no one knew where it was parked. So our friend searched the parking lots and garages in downtown so the widow did not have to do this. It was emotionally hard for our friend to do this but he finally located the car and got the key from the man's widow and turned on the car and music came on. The man who had died had been listening to a praise and worship cd before he got out of that car that morning. Our friend just had a sense of peace right then. You may be saying so what? It just showed me what an awesome God we have, he gave our friend peace in knowing this man was a Christian and was in the presence of God at that very moment.

So this year another runner collapsed during the race this time. This man was a experience marathon runner and he had a heart attack on the course. Running behind him were a group of firefighters who were running in honor of their firefighter friends who had just died in a tragic fire in Cincinnati. Alot of people run for different causes in the race. Firefighters are trained in CPR. They stopped and gave him CPR and helped save his life. There are trained medics all along the course. He is now in the hospital and the paper said he should be okay. I just thought both stories were worth being shared. I honestly believe that both stories show God's mercy and love in them.

Hope everyone has a great Tuesday! It is a beautiful one here in Ohio today. I am getting my toes done later on, thanks to my sister Judy and her friends Barb and Debbie for the wonderful gift certificate they gave me to my favorite nail salon. Thanks guys! You know pretty toes make me happy. :-)

The Weekend That Wasn't and Chick Flicks

Okay, so this weekend didn't quite turn out the way I thought it would. We did go downtown on Fountain Square in Cincy on Friday night for the Flying Pig Marathon party but we didn't stay for the pink fireworks. Bummer! It had been raining on and off on Friday night and we had our granddaughter Maddie and our nine months pregnant daughter Melissa with us. Maddie of course loved the rain, she thought it was fun. So we stayed for a little while and enjoyed the food. They had a pink carpet instead of a red one going into this big tent. Here are a few photos of the pig centerpieces they had on the tables. I thought they were very cute.
But then Saturday morning there was more rain, sometimes it was heavy. So I decided not to go down to where they were having the kiddie races and to where they were having a few races before the big one on Sunday. My sweetie had to go because he was announcing winners but with just getting over being sick, I was not going to hang out in the rain. So I went to see Made of Honor. Now I know this movie has been getting trashed in the critics reviews but I thought it was cute. I give it a chick flick two thumbs up. I enjoyed it, yes it was predictable and yes there were never any big surprises but hey it was fun and they were in Scotland for part of the movie so that was fun to watch also. I think it's a fun date night movie.
Anyway, after the announcing of the races Saturday morning, my sweetie came home and by late afternoon he was really sick, bad stomach cramps etc.....He went straight to bed where he has been all day. Poor guy, he is really wiped out. He couldn't even go to the big race this morning and do the announcing. So I told him today that we would watch chick flicks all day. That didn't seem to cheer him up too much. LOL Actually he fell asleep and I watched chick flicks most of the day in between taking care of my patient. I watched 27 dresses and part of The Lake House, which was on HBO and the old Sabrina movie with Audrey Hepburn. I did get out The Notebook which is the ultimate chick flick but ran out of time to watch it. So what is your favorite chick flick? I have lots, I love Nottinghill with Julia Roberts and I don't know if Under the Tuscan Sun counts as a chick flick but I like that one also. I better go, my patient is calling for me. If he's too sick for work tomorrow, I'll have him watching some chick flicks all day, that'll cure him fast. LOL Have a good one!

When Pigs Fly...........

So yesterday my sweetie calls me to say that the Flying Pig Marathon people wanted me to be one of the pig mascots for the race this weekend. See the above photo of the lovely outfits they wear. Well, the pig outfits are pink, which I do so love but hey let's just wait a minute here. Are the Flying Pig people implying that I would make a good pig mascot? They did tell my sweetie they just love my enthusiasm (translation, no one else will do it) or do they just think my body resemble a big pink pig? LOL Either way, there is just no way I could do it and here's why. You start at 6AM and keep going until the afternoon. Take a good look at what they wear for this and remember I have a small bladder and there are only portable potties there. Case closed!! :-)
So here's the lowdown on the race events this weekend if you live in the Cincy area. Tonight there's a Flying Pig party downtown on Fountain Square. They are telling me pigs will fly at around 840pm and then there will be pink fireworks. Can't wait to see pink fireworks!. And on Saturday there's the Piglet Fun Run for kids and then the Diaper Dash for real little ones. I'm trying to get Maddie to go down with me. There's the Expo on Friday and Saturday at the Convention Center where you can pick up all the Flying Pig items you can think of and then the race starts on Sunday at 630am. I will go down to the finish line at some point because my sweetie is doing some announcing of winners etc... Anyway, it should be a fun weekend. Yea, Flying Pig mascot, when pigs fly maybe....................
