The Family Business

look at those boy in the seventies For those of you who don't know, our family business is in the produce business. My sweetie and his brothers are third generation in this family business. Their grandfather Sam came over from Sicily and started the business. I know he is somewhere in the photo below but I am unsure which one he is(he kind of looked like Vito Corleone). I met my sweetie in 1972 and Sam died shortly after that so I never met him. My sweetie's Dad(he died in 1994) ran the business for years. He's in the top photo with his 1970's look and his four sons. My sweetie seems to be hiding behind a bunch of veggies. LOL Three of the brothers still work in the business, one moved to Hilton Head years ago. These boys started working and learning the produce business at a very young age. If you ever go to the grocery with my sweetie, you would never leave the produce section but you also wouldn't go home with bad produce. He knows what's good. I love this legacy of a family business and all of the stories and sometimes headaches that go along with it. The business also sells Christmas trees and fruit baskets at Christmas. This is a crazy time of year for the guys.

So they hired a little help. Our daughter Christina actually does work there with her Dad but the other day my oldest daughter Melissa and I and the two little girls decided to pay them all a visit. I think they need to look at the fifth generation of children to carry on the family legacy.

Look at little Sydney working hard at the computer with Aunt Christina. It's never too early to learn about produce. :-)

Gotta take a break to play! There's no playing on the job or Papa and Uncle Steve will get mad.

Papa could never get mad at that cute little face. She might just be the future generation in the family business.

Oh! I just love this story...Joan. Thanks so much for sharing...what a legacy your husbands grandfather has left and how awesome that there has been 4 generations involved in the American Dream this one man must have had for so many years. It goes to show us that with hard work and dedication...dreams can come true...and all the better when shared with the family! I think Grandpa Sam must be smiling from heaven...and oh so proud...especially now that little Miss Sydney has had her first taste of the corporate life in the family business. Tell her not to get the big head however, b/c the best employee always starts at the beginning...:)!

Again, I loved this story...a true American dream...you must be so proud to be a part of it...not many can say that type of thing now a days!

Blessings...
Teresa

Joan ~ The picture of little Sydney working hard at the computer with Aunt Christina is just priceless! What a couple of cuties! The story was heart-warming! What a great family story you have there. Sounds as though you are TRULY blessed! It also sounds as though you will all have a lot to be thankful for on Thanksgiving Day. ~ jb///

Anyone who grows food and trees is a hero in my book. And as a family business, I'll bet there are lots of halos in the family!

Dear Sassy,
You have the prettiest smile I've ever seen in my whole entire life. I also love your sweater,
Love, Aunt Steph

Dear Dad, Uncle Steve, and Uncle Mike,
How come TeeTee gets a job and you refuse to hire the rest of us? Didn't I make your oatmeal to your liking last time I was employed there, Uncle Mike? Didn't you have fun calling me out of "my office" every few minutes to have me make some food? I swear, we'll all have fun.
Love, Steph

Dear Aunt Joan,
I really love your blog.
Love, Ladybug
