Good Friends - Good Times

Steve, Jim & Mike

Pat, Steve, Mike & Karen

Last night we went to a birthday party for our good friend Jim. He's one of the last of us to turn 50. My husband has a saying about people whom he holds in high esteem. He'll say he's "one of the good guys" and Jim is certainly one of the "good guys."

We had a wonderful time. Happy Birthday Jim!

Finally

Look Kat I finally figured this out. I really am computer literate, it just takes me awhile sometimes. Anyway now that I know this little tool, I can link to your blogs out there. Thanks Kat for your generous offer to help me with this. I have a feeling you are just that kind of person. And while I'm at it thanks for the "Schmooze" award. I never get an award. Check it out here at justabeachkat. Thanks again!!

Karolee at My Montana Moments is doing the Proverbs Challenge. I started it a couple of days late but it is easy to catch up.

And go over to Kari at Just Livin Large. I love her posts about going through the change of life. She makes me laugh, though I am not sure she is laughing about it. Thanks Kari!!

Movie Time

Let's get out of the 90 degree heat and get our microwave popcorn (make mine kettle corn) and our Coke Zero and talk about a couple of movies. I was lucky enough to see two movies this week. The first one I seen was No Reservations. I've been waiting for a chick flick drama and this totally fit into that category. I promise when I talk about movies, I won't give away any endings. The basic story here is of Catherine Zeta Jones character taking in her niece when her sister is killed. I enjoyed this chick flick drama. I thought the young girl who played her niece Zoe, Abigail Breslin, is a terrific young actress. It is kind of a predictable storyline but it's still nicely done.

The second movie is The Bourne Ultimatum. What a jam pack action ride this movie is. Right from the beginning it grabs you and doesn't stop delivering. My sweetie loves action adventure movies and he really liked this one. If I'm not mistaken this is the third in the series and Matt Damon is excellent as the tortured Jason Bourne, who lost his memory and looking for answers.

Joan Allen as Pam Landy is also great in this film but she seems to be great in all of her films. This film has alot of action and intense scenes, so if that kind of thing bothers you, it might not be for you. All in all, two good movies. Hope you are having a great weekend!

Gotta love Goetta

You have to love a town that has a festival that's all about goetta. This weekend it's Goettafest in my neck of the woods. I have a feeling unless you are from Southwest Ohio, you will have no idea what goetta is. In our newspaper this morning, this is how they described goetta; it was brought here in the 1880's by the Germans. Goetta is made from ground pork or beef, pinhead or steelcut oats, onions, salt, pepper and several other spices. Most people like it fried and served with eggs at breakfast. My sister June makes her own goetta and so did my Mom. So this morning I had goetta for breakfast. I have a feeling goetta is not on the weight watchers diet. But sometimes a girl has to have her comfort food. I can't make it to Goettafest but if I did, I would want to try the goetta fudge brownies.

Happy Birthday Double G (Great Grandma)

Feeling Grateful Today

Buttons & Grandma, at the park.
Today I woke up ready to tell the Lord the usual list of aches and pains I would like to be gone. But then I thought NO, NO, NO. Today I was going to be grateful. Grateful for this DAY. So I put on my workout clothes and went to "my" beautiful park on the Ohio River and thought about all that I was grateful for on this day. I am grateful having that park to go to everyday and being able to walk my three miles. I am grateful for my walking buddies, my sister June and my niece Allison. They always make the time go fast with tales of their travels and their new dog Coco. I am so grateful when our 82 year old Dad joins us. I look forward to the weekend mornings at the park when my sweetie and I take our coffee and sit on the benches and watch the river. I am grateful today because I get to spend part of it with Buttons. We are going to hang out at the Mall while Mommy is getting her hair done there. I am grateful for the Cinnamon Dolce latte I am going to get at Starbucks while I'm there. To many people these may seem like superficial things to be grateful for. But for today, the Lord has blessed me with these things and I am grateful.
Safe Travels,
Joan
